For Immediate Use

Staffordshire Festival Sings are set to run a musical performance for local communities to showcase local solo artists, choirs and duets.

The free event, which is in conjunction with the Staffordshire Festival of Performing Arts, will take place on the 12th April, 6:30pm at the Mitchell Arts Centre, Hanley and the group are hoping to bring communities together through the event.

The festival is in its fourth year and will also involve other events throughout April such as dance, art exhibits and film to give Stoke-on-Trent a glimpse of the talents of its local people.

Staffordshire Festival Sings event organiser, Hollie O’Connell said: “Our vision for the event is to bring people together to celebrate local talent and it is a good opportunity to support those trying to make their way in music.

“The Festival of Performing Arts has been a success over its first three years and we’re hoping that this one will be no different.

“We are excited by the fact we have a lot of variety at the event in terms of the performers that have already signed up so it will appeal to a lot of people.

“It is free ticketed as we are trying to encourage local people to come and join us on the evening. It is a little different to the usual events held in the local area so it should be a great night for all involved.”

The group which have confirmed performances from two Allsorts Community Choir, The Academy Choir, Tracy O’Rourke, Ruth Washington and a duo called Rebecca and Laura is open to all ages and the venue can accommodate around 300 attendees.
